Dill Pickle Wrap Dip

You know those dill pickle wraps? The tortillas with the dried beef, cream cheese, and the dill pickle in the middle are rolled up and sliced into little delicious “sushi roll” looking bites of yumminess. They are a hit at all of the parties, but if you have ever made them, you know they are a little tedious to make. So, I am bringing you this dip. It tastes just like those wraps but is so much easier to prepare.

Dill Pickle Dip Recipe

This stuff is seriously addicting. As I mentioned, this dip has been on my website for a while now. I got the recipe from my niece, Leah. Since she was a little girl, dill pickles have been her favorite food on earth. I remember one year I gave her one of those huge jars of dill pickles from Costco as a gift. She loved it! So, I have her to thank for this easy three-ingredient dill pickle dip recipe. Dill pickle lovers and even non-pickle lovers devour it!

What Kind of Meat is Used in Dill Pickle Wrap Dip?

Over the years there has been a lot of talk about what to use as far as meat in pickle dip. I have only ever made this recipe with Hormel Dried Beef. I purchase it in my grocery store, by the packaged deli meats. They do have it available in glass jars, too, it’s shelf-stable and located where you would find the canned meats. I find that the jarred version is much saltier than the packaged version. So, I have always told my readers to rinse it before using it.

In many families, they make their dill pickle dip with ham. Some use leftover ham, some honey ham, or deli ham. I have also heard of people using salami, pastrami, prosciutto, or even bacon bits!

FAQ’s

  • Can this dip be frozen? I wouldn’t recommend freezing this dip.
  • What to do with leftover dip? It will keep in the fridge for about 4 days. We love it slathered on toasted bagels, and makes a great sandwich spread, too!
  • Is this dip gluten-free? My dill pickle dip recipe is gluten-free. I always serve it with some raw fresh veggies too: carrot sticks, celery, and bell peppers, for those who would prefer not to use crackers.
  • Can I use Dill Pickle Relish Instead of whole pickles? Of course! When I have dill pickle relish on hand, I have used it for this dip. It makes the process even quicker. Make sure to drain the extra liquid before adding it. Truly any kind of dill pickles you have on hand; dill pickle spears, dill pickles chips – just grab a jar of pickles you have on hand.
  • Can I use sweet pickles for this recipe? Sure you can, but the dip is going to taste entirely different using butter pickles.

Tips, Tricks and Substitutions

Remember that when it comes to making substitutions in recipes, you don’t need to be afraid to get creative and use ingredients that suit your personal taste and dietary preferences. Make it your own!

  • Want an extra creamy dip? Add a little pickle juice to the cream cheese when you whip it. Sour cream or Greek yogurt would work too, making this a perfect chip dip for potato chips, pita chips, or tortilla chips, instead of a thick dip for spreading on crackers.
  • Make a vegetarian dip by omitting the dried beef.
  • Ramp up the dill flavor with some fresh dill weed added to the dip.
  • This recipe makes a pretty big batch, but it’s easy to cut in half for smaller crowds.
  • Get the full flavor of classic dill pickle wraps quicker; wrap the dill pickle dip into tortillas for dill pickle wrap dip pinwheels.
  • Spice things up with some garlic powder, sliced green onions, or red pepper flakes.
